Default 4l60e converter lockup question

I have a 95' trans am with a 4l60e and 3600 vig converter. Problem is the converter locks up when cold and unlocks permanently when it warms up. What is the problem? Sounds like it should be the other way around..

Does it only lock in OD? Shift kit installed? recent work? Is it being commanded to lock? Any codes? How long has it been doing this? Need to give a little more detail....

Its done it for about 9 months... Has a shift kit, no codes.. Its once it hits around 100-110 degrees it stays unlocked.. I thought maybe something electrical? Not sure if its being commanded, just know when its cold its fine, when it warms up it unlocks..

I had this exact same problem in my old 97. I replaced just about every solenoid in the transmission, with no luck. I would guess that it is NOT an electrical problem with the tranny. In the end, I went through 2 different converters, both with the same result, it woudln't lock when warm. I ended up replacing the transmission with a used one from a junkyard, and problem solved. So I can't say what the actual problem was, I just know that after replacing the converter twice and dropping the pan like 10 times to replace noids, I wish I had just replaced the tranny from the beginning!

Did it start after you installed the shift kit? Might be a background code that doesn't show up till closed loop.
