yeah that's what those cheapie stalls are from places like jegs and summit. I think you can only go up to like 2400 though.

Can a Stock Converter be stalled.. Why would you want to when you can buy them fairly cheap anyway or pick up a used 1 for someone on here with little to no miles on it. Can it yes i am sure but not very high stall. And i don't think its worth the money of shipping it off and back and the cost in between honestly.. IMO

i guess its also a question of what is different about a stock converter that is deosnt lock up compared to a real stall

You can modify a factory converter about 500 RPM, so it would be about a 2000 RPM. The problem is the diameter, the impeller is just to big and pumps to much pressure to the turbine. That is the reason why most performance converter are smaller in diameter. It allows you to achieve a higher stall and still maintain good efficiency.

interesting, though it seems a stock converter never actually locks up. is this true, bare with me, this is the first auto car ive ever owned. and what you charge for a 3000 stall.

The factory converter should lock up, you might have a tuning issue or another problem. I have a few ways to build a 3000 stall. I have an 11" converter that is rated at 3000-3200. It uses the factory 12" front cover, so it is cost effective - $375. I can also build a 10" 3000, that would need a billet front cover, they are $725.
