Default 4L80E 1993 vs 1995

I have a 1993 Suburban - with the 4L80E tranny. I have a 1995 4L80E tranny - supposedly also from a suburban.

My question is - is this an exact match for swapping? Or, should I expect to have difficulties with the electronics in the 95 tranny in the 93 vehicle?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I can not remember for sure but I'm pretty sure that the wiring harness had changed. The original harness used would leak and they had issues with them in the 93. I believe they were only used for a couple years and then were updated to what I would call the late harness. I believe the 95 unit should have the updated harness. You can convert your vehicle harness with an updated harness end for the 4l80e. This is a kit that we use to install many years ago and will work with all units. Hope this helps. Vince

Did you post a link? I don't see any 'kit'.

No I did not post a link. This is a kit that a shop I worked in would buy and give to me to install. I believe it came from the dealer. Vince

according to the book, beginning in May of 93, it got the upgraded harness
you should be able to look at both plugs and see if their the same
the GM # was 24200161, if its avail-Sonnax may have it
the problem is in 94 they sup. changed the force motor, took a diff. voltage,
so you may need a new PCM, not sure you could reprogram the old one

How will I know if the force motor voltage is wrong?
