4L60E no 4th gear, no SES light I'm posting this up for a guy I work with that has a 01 Z28, he just got his transmission rebuilt and after about 50 miles it stopped shifting into 4th gear. 1,2,3 and lockup in 3rd all work, and there is no SES light. Shifts flawlessly except no 4th gear. I told him I would try and find out why it would do that since he doesn't want to spend a lot of money getting it taken apart again (it was a local shop, told him he did something to it so they weren't going to re-do anything). Does anyone have any ideas? I can do simple stuff on these transmission so I said I would help if its something that is not too in-depth. From what I understand, 1st gear working perfect pretty much rules out the 1-2 solenoid, and 2nd works freakin great so the band is doing ok, are we looking at a problem with the 4th gear servo?

Pretty positive. It drops about 200rpm after being in 3rd for a bit and feels like lockup, goes back up if you tap the brakes. What part of the 4th servo specifically would it be? I can pull that out and look at it in the car, I've had to do it before on mine. I'm just not sure which part is for 2nd and which is for 4th.

Is there a good place to find a diagram or picture of how it is supposed to look? Also, more info on this that may help. I actually drove the car today, and it drives HORRIBLY. There is something seriously wrong but I don't know what off the top of my head. The car sputters like crazy if you put the gas down more than a little bit. Also, it does seem to shift into 4th but only if you are very very light on the pedal, if you even touch the gas it downshifts to 3rd. It seems like something is wrong with the motor, my guess is the MAF, could it be something influencing how the tranny shifts?
