Default Shifter needs adjustment, but the other way

I put a new cable on my buddys auto camaro and when your in park its in park, but when you put it in drive its in neutral, 3rd is drive, first is second (i know because it commands second)

now i know you can adjust these.. if the cable gets stretched over time, but it seems like the cable needs to be stretched for it to even work!!! any ideas?

The distance from reverse to park is much greater than between any other positions. It's probably not going all the way into park.

Have you at least even tried to adjust it?

Try to set it in the neutral position and see how that works for you. I find that it is always best to have 2 people when doing this. This way you do not have to go back and forth while doing the adjustment. It's been a while since I have done this but I always find if you have someone keep the shifter in the car in neutral, while pushing it torwards reverse, this usually works. This way you just set the cable while it's attached and have person in the car check it. Hope this helps. Vince
