Default B&M Pro Stick Intall, Do I need 2 cables?

I bought a used pro stick out of who knows what car, but i coverted it to the 4 speed. Took the stock shifter out last night, as saw there were two cables going to the shifter. One has a hole off to the left about an inch away from the shifter and the main cable Im guessing goes all the way under the dash. My friend has the same shifter on his 70 Camaro and is only using one cable, so since I have two, which one do I use and whats the other one for?

The other one is the column lock (where it won't come out of park unless the key is on and your foot is on the brake).

As long as Im ok with track tech, I dont really care if I have it or not. I just want to make sure the car will be able to work without it.
