Default Can a maxed out 4L60E handle 770RWHP in OD?

Assuming a 4L60E was built as much as it could be (w/5 pinion planetary's, so I guess 4l65e) with all the goodies, converter built to handle the power weight etc. Can it survive shifting into OD under WOT with as much RWHP as my car makes?

Cna it be built to hold up a while Yes. Would be IMO very reliable long term combo. Probably not would require a redo here and there.
If I did go that route I would get one with a LONG warranty for sure no matter where you get it from.

I would say yes, as long as it has a billet 4th servo and a good band/drum. Is it going to last forever, no. What gears are in the rear and why do you need to shift to 4th at WOT? What converter is in it? Triple Disk?

I haven't ever shifted it into OD, but I'm just talking about for highway runs, it doesn't see OD at the track. It has 3.73's in the rear and a Vig 3200 triple disc. I don't expect it to hold forever, no, but I also don't want it to let go after doing it twice ya know?

I don't really street race much, but for those races that are close and require the extra 20 MPH I'd like to be able to use OD.

I would say no problem, I have a 04 SSR that weighs 4980lbs. with fuel and me in it and have a built 4L60 running a alky injected, Super charged LS6 stroker with all the best parts, I have had a 1.55 60ft. and run a best of 11.55 and after 4 years and 100's of runs down the 1/4 mile and driving it on the street I had the guy that built it check it out and he said it looked good just normal ware and I am not running a forged forward drum, Also have a Vig 3200 triple disc in mine

i would say no....for the cost of the frequent rebuilds of a 4l60 you would be better off getting a 4l80 like mightymouse and I have. You will then have a tranny that will be damn near bulletproof.

At your power level I would just get an 80. My fully built 60 went out on the first pass when I reached 770 rwhp. The 80 feels like it's ready to take anything I can throw at it.
