Default Will the TH400 from a Supra fit on the LS1?

As the title says it all, I need to know whats the difference between the TH400 from a supra and the TH400 that has no overdrive... I mean, if I have a TH400 from a supra, will it work as a substitute for the 4l60e? what modifications are needed?

Thanks

supras didn't come with GM TH400's. A GM TH400 will work though. People put TH400's and Powerglides in Supras, but they didn't come with them from the factory.

Go to Yahoo and type "toyota supra use th400 trans" into the search engine. I got lots of good reading from doing it just a second ago.

Will a BOP TH350 or a 200R4 bolt behind a 5.3 LS motor, reason I'm asking is I'm seriously considering about dropping a 5.3 LS truck motor into my 83 Regal Wagon where now a 3.8 resides, anyone have any info on this or have known someone that has done this to a G-body, looking for links and info on this, thanks.

A 2004R will, since it is a dual bolt pattern (BOP and chevy)

Sort of. Not all the bolts will line up. I think I have like 4 bolts in my TH400 bellhousing to my LS1 motor.

X2. The only missing bolt should be the top right bolt.

I've got 5 in my TH350. The two on the left side above/below the dowel, two on the right side above/below the dowel, and the one at 11 o'clock(upper left side)

Some where in the 80's GM went to a 5 bolt front pump. Earlier ones had 7. Also, Someone help me here, but some had 4 forward clutchs and some had 5. I think the 70's models had 5. Try to find one out of a big car or truck.

Thanks for the reply bro... but I might have difficulty doing so, because the transmissions usually in here come from broken cars outside of Lebanon which means they don't even know where the hell they came from! so I guess I should try checking something else, something maybe more evident in the transmission unit itself...

Anyone?

You can take any th400 and make modifications that exceed any factory th400.

To answer your question, no it does not matter what it came out of. What matters is how it's built.

alright then thats the route Im taking, Im goin to try and install it stock, just to let the car move, no racing no nothing... just to take it and pass emissions and all so I can pay for some outstanding fees on it, then I will rebuild... so they are all the same in fitment and power?!

Pretty much so. They do make Chevy bolt pattern along with B-O-P. But not both patterns on the same tranny. there is also the short shaft at 4" and the long shaft at 9". this would be the tailshaft length.

B-O-P? I won't probably care for the tail length because I'm doing my own driveshaft cause I have an LS1 Nissan

BOP means Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac. Those wont work on an LS1.
Can't be adapted either unless you cut the bellhousing off and use a readily available custom made bellhousing. Here in the US it's not worth it to adapt a th400 from bop to chevy.
A non sponsor makes them for Datsuns, fords, etc.

But it would be better to get one from a chevy because the bolt pattern will fit the ls1 (especially the 98) with minimum modification right...
