Default 4L60E to 4L80E reprogram?

I have been reading if I go from a 4L60E to an 80E that I will need to reprogram the computer with the 80E shift program. Has anyone done this or know who can?
Thanks
Jay

Anyone with HPTuners can. It requires sending an F-body file and a truck file (that uses the 80) to HPTuners to have the appropriate segments swapped. Look up Frost on here if you are looking for a professional to do it. He can and has done it before.

There is still one minor unresolved issue with the HPTuners route though. When cruising on the highway with the TC locked, it will unlock if you let off the gas (less than 5% throttle I believe). When you use the throttle again it will lock back up. It doesn't really bother me as I have learned to modulate the throttle just enough that it doesn't lock/unlock on me during cruising. A solution is still being worked on. Even if it wasn't I wouldn't let it stop me from doing the swap.

There are also other options like a stand alone controller or full manual valve body. For me using the PCM to control it made the most sense, but check out those options as well and see what's best for you.

BTW I think Frost sells the wiring harness adapter now as well at a competitive price to Speartech's. He didn't have it developed yet when I did my swap.

I have also heard that a Tech II can be used to flash the computer for the 80e parameters, but not sure on the details.

My stock 4L60E does that most of the time.

It is not HPTuners fault. It does it with EFILive as well. GM does it with many of the factory 80Es.

I'm not blaming it on HPTuners at all. I should have clarified that it is an issue with the 4L80E trans. I was just stating that my 60 didn't do that. The 80 does.

Using gm software? I'd be interested in more information on that.
