Default Strange acting TH400/ general tranny question

I have a Built TH400 thats been acting strange lately, Hit and miss Upon vehicle start up, engaging into R or 1st gear {allowing plenty of time to run not immediatly as car is started!!} it wont move until motor is spun up around 3500-4k rpm then slams into gear and jumps which ever direction your in gear!! Only been behind a trailored car to the strip, im not a hot lapper, so i know its never been overheated, once slamed into gear once either way its fine,, Tranny doesnt seem to slip, still cuts 1.3 60fts just curious what is causing this,

Tranny fluid like new, no metal, new converter, tranny fluid is where it suposed to be, not low or over full

??

any explanations?? as of right now Makes for fun backing off trailor or out of garage
