do a stall and tranny cooler. wouldnt do gears til ya get a 9" or 12 bolt. for stock internals, i'd do a 3600 stall. if ya had a cam, then 4000. i'm not sure on the tune. i wouldnt think you'd need one.

A stall will benefit you alot more than gears for sure so I would go that route. With a stall your also going to want a trans cooler like a B&M 70264 and a shift-kit like a TransGo HD2 to tighten up the shifts since the stall will loosen them up.
I unfortunately did gears before stall and barely noticed a difference between going from my 3.23's to 3.73's at the time. When I went from the stock stall to a Yank SS3600 the difference was dramatic.

You dont think a stall should wait til you get a built tranny. Once I did the stall my tranny lasted a little over 5000 miles. I was pissed that I wasted money to put the stall in and take it right out. Also my 10 bolt still going strong with 3.73's.

not a lot of ppl can afford built tranny, stall, and cooler at the same time. go with a smaller stall like a 3200. drive like that til he's got some money saved, then when the tranny goes out, build it.

Also something to look at is when I did my gears the car ran great on stock tune. When I threw the stall on the car required a tune.

Unless he's doing it himself a shop will charge around 250 for install. So thats a total of 500 dollars once it breaks. If it breaks when he not around his house then he will be paying for towing. My stall is a vig 3200 and it didnt take long to break the tranny. All I'm saying is do it right the first time even if it means waiting to get the right parts. I regret doing mine on the stock tranny because it was a waist of money.

The reason I say do it if you can is because I was on a cruise when mine went out. I was 70 miles from my house. Also if you're paying someone to do the install then you will be paying twice eventually. If the op is willing to take the risk go right of head. If he can afford it I would do it right the first time instead of dealing with the hassle.
