Stock flexplate is pretty thin and light. My SFI is heavier and thicker, so for the weight penalty you get reliability. Some of the more expensive SFI flexplates may actually be as light or lighter then the factory piece.

going to say the stocker is 5 lbs thin pos that is prone to cracking and breaking which mine did along with a ton of other people with the 2001-2002 plates. The tci one i got is quite a bit heavier but is a solid *** pice that wont break nor will it flex like the stock junk..
