th350 high power build
well I am looking at what I should throw into my trans for a 6.0l t88 turbo build in my f body. looking for a 1000 wheel setup leaving off a trans brake. I Have a 4000 stall ati eliminator 11 series converter. I am thinking a 36 element sprag assembly with a hardened input shaft and drum will suffice. I already have red eagles and kolenes. What are the pro's opinions on this?

If the car is under 3200 lbs save the aggravation of the 350 and its limitations and put a glide in it!!!

Anyone can build a PG or TH400!
Anyone that says a th350 can't take it, hasn't tried hard enough! I know it's not sexy enough to say I have a TH350.
36 element sprag for sure, and use the wave steel in the intermediate clutch pack << NO MATTER WHAT THE TRANS BRAKE INSTRUCTIONS SAY!
A re-hardened stocker input shaft and drum assy from CK perf has gone 8's for me for SEASON(S)>>> http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/or...k-finally.html (try to guess what my screen name is)
Depending on the Brake (redneck,BTE,and TCI are carbon copies of one another). use 3 >> 1 7/8'' cap plugs in the intermediate servo area, don't just use the lame 1/8'' pipe plugs they give you. You have to drive the 3rd cap plug just under the area where the hole starts to neck down for the servo.

Mike,
I got the converter today. Thanks! It'll go in the car tomorrow.
I have to swap the cam, timing set, valve springs, timing cover, and oil pan tomorrow then set it back in place.
Mike,
You and I both have TH350's out there living under power, but there is a point in time (~600-700 HP) where the TH400 is just the unit of choice due to long term reliability.
1000 HP is definitely TH400 territory IMO.

I think with all these crazy turbo combo's that everyone seems to be putting together that a th350C (here we go again) would be killer, especially with a multi-disc lock-up set up.
True, th400 is king as far as all out durability goes, but they're boring. I like to see people's faces cringe when you tell them your running a th350 or even a 200-4r or worse yet the ol' 200 metric.
I'll call you in the afternoon.

A TH350C could work good with a good converter locking up in 3rd.
How's the PG lockup thing going?
I've got to go pick up the 4L80E auto brake valves tomorrow and test one soon. I'm buried here.
I think I mentioned the 200 setup for the Stock Eliminator car in the past. Maybe a 200C for that combo with a lockup converter to pick it up. I'll ask the owner if he wants to test it.

If you are looking for a glide lock up they have been done for many years. I originaly made one 19 years ago and several other have made them as well. I also made a lock up 400.Even with a bolt together converter to handle 2500 horsepower. this unit was called the super brute.
