Drives in 1st and reverse only! Okay, my car (98 a4 formula stock) went BANG when I launched it leaving me with just 1st and Drive. I opened up the diff and found it had chewed gears, I've replaced it now but the car will still only move in reverse or when I've selected 1st. Drive, 2nd and 3rd just make a whirring noise. When the car is jacked up, though, the wheels will spin in Drive and all gears.
Sounds to me like the transmission but I'm definitely not an expert...what do you think? I don't want to fork out for a new tranny only to find out that it's something else.
