Default 200r4 chatter upon lock-up, whats wrong?

I have a stock 200r4 behind a 305 and in front of a 2.4:1 rear gear, the trans shifts great and firm under full throttle, drives great if locked in 3rd, however when in overdrive and going up a steep incline it feels as though the T/C is chattering and the whole car pulsates. Is this a common problem (bad solenoid), or an impending sign of doom? Thanks

I would guess that your converter clutch is failing

could be the pull is to hard on the car with it locked up, like luging a stick car in to high a gear, most trans will unlock the converter under power/pulling hard
are you locking it man., or is it a stock setup
