Question Trans not going into 3rd gear. Trans shop in Tulsa area to take it to?

This is on my 2003 H2 with a 4L65E (4WD if that even matters?). It is bone stock and has 86k miles on it. I called a local automatic trans shop and the guy said something about the 3rd gear clutches being prone to failure in those transmissions. I’m not at all familiar with automatic transmissions. As far as I have ever been concerned, they are like the pyramids- no one knows exactly how they went together.. Anyway, that shop wanted $1400 to rebuild mine with a 1yr/12k mile warranty, or he said he could get me a GM remanufactured one for $1475 with a 3yr/ 50k warranty. Is this a good price? If not, does anyone know of a reputable place in the Tulsa OK area that they would recommend? I really need help here. Winter is here, and I am having to drive my TA in this crap since the DD is broken

You should also consider one of the sponsors here ourselves or one of the others generally you can get a much better trans with about the same or a little more money.

Go with FLT or performabuilt. I've worked with FLT and seen performabuilt products first hand. They build them right. You wouldnt be upset with a product from either of those two.

I wouldnt mess around with any of the locals.
