Default Poll: What rear end do you have - stock - 9" - 12 bolt

Hey all, post up what rear end you are running and track times if available. I am getting closer to the point of actually swapping in a built A4 and want to convince myself I can pull off some track runs with the stock rear and radials. I know radials and stock rear are a no no but want to know how many of you are running it.

I beat my 10 bolt daily. In the summer I run Nittos most of the time and they are a good amount stickier then a non-DR radial. I have run a 3200 converter and a 4K. So far so good. I did a full bearing replace when I installed 3.73s.

I swapped in a new carrier to my 10 bolt when I went from 2.73's to 3.42's and it has about 45k on it now. Obviously, I'm not making the big power, but this unit has survived many, many dead hooks on MT DR's.

I have seen these cars break the rear with stock engines when the car has a manual transmission. This link may help to answer some questions. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...html?item=2227 Bob

Broke the spiders on a stock 10-bolt 3.23 with an auto on the street.
Beat the crap out of a stock 9bolt after that with the same engine and never broke it until I put in a manual.
Then I was beating on it hard, downshifting too many gears and dragging it for a sec. It started whining a bit but still drove fine. Took it apart, no broke parts, just a bearing. I really love how cheap they are vs how strong they are.
Then I got a 9inch. Of course it's still fine.
Would never consider a 12 bolt. Almost the same price but only two spiders and no 3 pinion support. What a waste of money when a 9in is about the same cost.

I have a 9" (in my car) and a 12 bolt in my wifes car. The 12 bolt fits better, but the 9" was easier to work on. IMO.

I'm running the 10 bolt with 3.73s.Numerous times at the track on BFG DR's and its still working;it does whine pretty loud though.Putting a higher stall converter in so I'l see how the 10 bolt likes that.

10 bolt-Motive 3.73's, Auburn Pro, TA cover, stock brakes, stock axles, ARP 3.25 studs.

I beat the dog **** out of it. If I keep the car, the only things I plan on doing to it are Moser shafts, drilled/slotted rotors, and a really good brake pad. Then beat the dog **** out of it some more. I'm not making alot of power like some, but i've gone 12.22 @110 with a 1.61. That was spinning slightly with a shitty DA and not a 100% tune. I'm assuming with a tune at 100%, no spinning, and good DA, i'd be able to hit a 11.99999999 with a better 60' also. This is also with a Level 4 MTS trans and a 4k converter.

Very true. I've seen a stock M6 LS1 snap an axle at the track; not a pretty sight. I run a Strange 12-bolt with the rear gear and pinion mikronited.

BTW - This is posted in the wrong section.

I am kind of surprised how many of you have 9"s. I thought that since A4's eat up a good amount of the impact in a hard launch a 9" would be an overkill. Maybe I will go for the 9" instead.

This is in the correct section, I specifically want to see what rear end AUTOMATIC f-bodies are running.

Dana 60. If I had to do it again, I would get the Fab 9 from Midwest for the weight difference.
