Default Powerglide question

I have a glide that I picked up from a buddy of mine. He told told me it was freshened up with a few passes on it. It came from a 2400lb bracket car with a small cube alky engine(6.1x 8th mile). It has a deep aluminum pan, shield, internal trans brake, hardened planetary gearset, and manual valve body. I also got the 8inch converter that he discribed as a 5000 stall. My plans for the trans are for my 70 nova thats getting a carbed LS1 stock bottom end with ported (flow 276in 226ex @600) heads and xr288 and a 150 shot for now. My questions are can i send the converter to be restalled for my combo and modified to work with the LS1? or would an 8inch be too loose? Also I plan to build a nice L92 headed 6liter for the car down the road I wander if I would need even another converter for the new setup? My nova is stripped down pretty good < 3000lbs with 4.88 gears and 4 link rear. Should I change the gear ratio? What times can I expect?

You running 1/8 or 1/4? You need to figure out how high you are going to spin the motor. A combo that allows for high rpm at the big end allows for more aggressive gearing that the glide will need to get out of the hole.
You should be able to get the converter restalled. Dont know ATI's policy but I'd gues they would do it for a fee.

I know a guy who runs an 8" converter in his TH400 with a 383 ci LS1, works pretty well for him (drags the bumper).

1/8th mile for now. Maybe change the gearing later on for the 1/4!
