Default Cant Get Bellhousing Bolts

I have the transmission out of the car and all I need to do is get the bellhousing off to put on my performabuilt trans. I have the correct T-50 bit they just wont break loose. I have hit them with the impact and heat from a torch with no luck any idea's?

The crappy thing is that I only really need the bolts as I have a spare bellhousing.

Good luck, use slow steady pressure at a 90 degree angle. Sometimes the T-Series bits can be a little easy to break.

If you aren't already, you might try getting the T-50 Socket. Then try a 1/2" drive Breaker bar with a 1/2" --> 3/8" drive adapter.

I have the socket and tried it with a breaker bar. One cheaper bit broke so I returned it and got a stronger one. It is tough to keep it seated correctly on the bolts without stripping the T-50.

I seem to be making a bit of progress. just got 2 of them out. had to have someone else hold the T-50 on the screw as hard as possible and go slow with the breaker. I'm just praying the bit doesnt break every attempt I make!

we once used an air chisel on the side of the bolt with a pointed bit just to hammer them a little to loosen them up a bit then a breaker bar. Good luck.

Nice job I believe thats a special T50. And if you are using a regular T50 you have to smooth the end down so it seats in the bolt head deeper.

Yeah, were you using a T50? or a T50 PLUS? Chances are if you were using a regular T50, that's your problem.

But all is well now!

Those are a PITA. They take a special Torx Plus socket bit. Even with the proper bit I still had to use the air chisel on one of mine.
