Default question bolting up 4l60e to 6.0?

All right, bolting up 2004 6.0 engine to 2001 4l60e trans. question is do I need the chevrolet performance adapter (converter doesn't reach crank) and hughes flexplate? (with original flexplate bolted tight to converter, converter is pulled from trans. 1/2 inch). and with only the spacer adapter, there would be a gap between flexplate and converter.

think I figured it out, need to keep the same year trans. so I don't need spacer, or dif. flexplate. Going to swap tailshafts from the 2001 4l60e to the 2004 4l60e(2004 is 4x4 model) so the flexplate and converter mesh. do you see anything wrong with this swap?

output shaft shorter on 4x4 model. check out the bellhousing area. might be your solution there. one might be a slightly different depth and can change that with no problem

Sounds like the 2001 converter is the 4.3L Gen I style. If it had the Gen III long hub center it would bolt right up with the stock dished flex plate.

You could use the 2001 converter with a spacer for the hub. Goes like this crank flex plate then spacer.
