Just rebuild 1st transmission...now I have a big problem...
Hey guys,
I know its not a GM but I figured most auto transmissions behave the same. Its an A340F transmission (also used in Jeep Cherokees in the late 90's, under a different name) out of my '96 4Runner 4x4. I pulled the transmission and rebuilt it over the past few weeks. Got a new (remanufactured) torque converter as well. Got everything installed, except the driveshafts. I wanted to test the tranny before taking it off the jackstands.
Well I went to put it in gear and I got no movement of the output shaft in any gear. I'm thinking that I could have not put enough fluid in the torque converter prior to installation. I put a good bit in, but maybe not enough. Also, the manual calls for 2 qts in the transmission, could it be possible that this is actually more after a full rebuild? Any ideas or tips for troubleshooting? Like I said, this is my first auto rebuild, so I'm scratching my head.
Again, I know its not a GM, but I wanted to tap the knowledge of the people on this board.
Thanks guys,
Matt
