Opinions on TH350 build
Auto gurus, I am needing second opinions on what should be done to a TH350 that will be behind a I/C/E 5.3 with possibly a 100 shot. It will be 70% street use and on DRs at the track. It will also be in a lighter Foxbody. Just wanting to see if your guys recommended parts match up with the transmission shop, or if they are trying to over sell me on stuff. Thanks for any input.

Ok, so I should look into a hardened sprag race and a good rebuild/performance kit?
Also, what advantage do you gain by putting 5 frictions in the tranny?
Thanks again guys for the input.

You have more friction area in 3rd gear. If set up right, it will hold more power in 3rd. Also, dual feeding 3rd is a must. One way, is with a transfer plate that comes with basic "shift Kits", and the other (preferred) way, is blocking a feed hole under the pump, and leaving the center seal out of the drum. If you have an experience builder, they should already know this. You really don't need a high dollar rebuild kit. Regular borg warner frictions will do just fine.

A T56 is out of the question, after buying one in good shape and then fabbing up the hydraulic system and getting the right clutch set-up I could have a built 4l60/80e and maybe more. And I can have a much stronger and cheaper tranny buy going with a TH350 over the 4L. And according to my gearing calculator with my gearing Ill be at 3100-3200rpm at 66mph. I think I can live with that.
