Default What fitting will allow me to go from the stock tranny cooler lines to AN?

So I've searched the forum and internet high and low, and I now need my LS1tech people to unite!

I'm doing a tranny cooler and I want to do -6an braided steel line. I have the aux cooler fittings figured out (1/2npt to -6an), but no one at all can tell me what the hard lines have on them that come out of the stock cooler. When you disconnect the trans lines from the stock cooler, what fitting is that and how do i get it to -6an?

Thank you very much!

The holes in the trans are threaded 1/4 npt. I used 1/4 x -6 straight fittings and some -6 90* hose ends on mine. I used Jeg pushloc hose and fittings and haven't had any issues.

Yeah, I found the trans fitting size, but I really dont want to run the lines all the way back. I'm just connecting to where the hard lines end (the stock cooler). What fitting would allow me to go from the stock cooler lines (the lines, not the cooler) to -6an?

Also, can I get 3ft -6an hoses premade or do you pretty much always have to assemble it yourself?

Actually, not even to -6an, i'd be happy just to know what fitting would get me to 3/8" barb to run rubber at this point. Pfft.

Thanks all.

If the line is 3/8 something like the link below could work. Then you could just run braided lines to the end of the fitting. It was just easier to me to replace the fittings on the trans itself and run whatever I wanted. I think the other line is 5/16 tubing.

Nifty! That does look like what I would need approximately. Thanks. I'm just annoyed that this is so difficult. I guess the option is to cut the hard line and just use a hose clamp with a rubber hose, but i really wanted something a little more professional ya know?

Thank you.

Here's some fittings : first ones clip onto existing fittings and adapt to a -6AN and the next ones completely replce the stock fittings and go to -6AN

Thanks everyone, you rock. I'm going to just rig it up with barb fitting to rubber lines right now, and then when i replace the trans next year, go to all -AN stuff from the trans all the way to the cooler.

I did pretty much what you wanted to do. Aeromotive makes -5 an steel tube fittings which fit perfect over the factory trans lines. I flared the tube fitting on then aeromotive makes a -5 to -6 an adapter worked perfectly and was alot cheaper than having to buy 15 ft. of braided hose. I might be able to get a pic for you and the part numbers just let me know. Thanks, Joe

Heres the way I connected them I didnt have much room to mount the cooler with the SSRA so I put it on the side. It works great and you cant see it unless youre laying on the ground.

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to post the info.

Oh and what cooler is that and did it come with AN fittings? I have a B&M with just the push on rubber fittings so I'd probably need a new cooler huh.

No they aren't. And they arent designed to take a tapered thread either. It's a straight thread. You gonna replace his trans when the case cracks?? NPS is not NPT.
