Default which auto is the smallest width and dont need a computer to control it?

I have a 71 datsun with a turbo ls1 swap, the t56 is a tight fit in the tunnel, I wondered if i could fit a 200r4 in the same space. also i want to use a tranny that wont need hooked up to the computer and that will still have a VSS so my speedo can get a signal, i figured i would ask here and see what would be my best bet. the tranny has to be able to handle over 500 hp and tq , the car is only 2500 ibs so i figure a built 2004r would handle it with ease.
