Default 4L60E Issues

Okay, so I just installed my new HKE 402 and my century built 4L60E from my old setup into my 01' Z28. Everything with the motor is great, but not so much with the trans. When I start the car, even though the shifter is in park, the car is in fact in either reverse or drive(it varies). I got underneath the car yesterday and saw that the shifter cable was broken, so I got another one today and reinstalled it but the problem remains. Not only is it doing that, but it appears to be leaking fluid from the top of the trans somewhere(not the lines, higher up). Could this be caused from being overfilled with fluid? The trans worked perfectly fine when pulled from behind my 347 about 3 months ago. Im totally stumped and frustrated at this point, im ready to drive this thing already!!! Any help is appreciated.

Did you adjust the cable?

Fluid leak at the top could be from being overfilled, overheating, etc.
It's all brand new, I've heard that about the leak from a few people already.

I asked you six ******* questions and you didn't bother to provide any relavent information.

All brand new, so that means it should work huh. The **** needs to be adjusted right.
How about the rooster comb in the transmission.
I can think of everything to check but it doesn't do **** unless you check it.

So **** it have fun, new parts should work right **** the adjustments and your OLD transmission.
Relax guy, im new to autos. I've always had manual trans cars, could you enlighten me on what I need to adjust before you flip out on me?
And to answer the questions more specifically its all brand new stock stuff, with the exception of the shifter. None of it appeared to be adjustable but i'll check on it again when I get home from work.
