Default lost 2nd gear???

what would cause a loss of second gear ? i have all gears except second what controls second gear to my under standing the band controls both second and 4th correct? so what could cause a loss of second gear? bad solenoid? somethung stuck in the valve body? any ideas? thanks tried manually shifting trans with a shafer shifter and it did the same thing so it has to be an internal trans problem. thanks in advance for the help.

My second is gone as well, if you just simply fix second it's only a matter of time before it happens again. I'm just getting a built trans now. Should be in next week!
