Default I need help with 4L80 install with a Moser 9"

I am removing my 4L60 and installing a 4L80 this coming week. I already have the stock rearend replaced with a Moser 9". I was running the stock drive shaft. What I understand is the switch to the Moser requires a longer driveshaft, and I am not sure if the switch to the 4L80 will require a driveshaft length change. Does anyone know the correct center to center length for the drive shaft with the 4L80 and Moser 9" in a 02 f-body? If the 4L60 and the 4L80 are the correct length what I messure the shaft should be 42 1/8th" inches long from center to center of the U-joint bores. Is this correct?

Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure on the length, but the LS1 4L60E and the 4L80E are within 1/16 of an inch of each other on length, so just base your length on going from stock rear to Moser 9"

I have heard when going to the Moser 9" the shaft needs to be about 1" longer.

What I did tonight was load the car on all four tires, pulled the shaft all the way forward, and measured the distance from the face of the pinion flange to the u-joint. It looks like my shaft is about 3/4" too short. That is were I came up with the 42 1/8th" figure. This gives the yoke about 3/4" of total travel, that is if the 4L60 is the same length as the 4L80. Of course the 60 was in the car and I was using the 4l60 yoke. I am not sure it will make enough of a difference with the 4l80 slip yoke.

It looks like I will have to buy a new driveshaft tube. I already had this shaft built once and it only has about 4 passes at the track on it. I do not mind having it lengthend more, but I only want to do it one more time. My advise to everyone is to just buy a shaft from a reputibale shop that has the correct dimentions already opposed to trying to save a buck and having your local shop do it. Heck i might just do this anyway!
