Default Wanting a stall. 3200 or 3600?

I'm wanting to put a cam and stall in my dd. I'm looking at getting a comp 228/230 571/573 112lsa cam. Obviously, I'll need a stall to go with that cam. Like I said, this is my dd, and I've never driven a stalled vehicle before.

Everyone keeps telling me to just get a 2800-3200 stall, since that will be perfect, and the drivability will be good with it. They say a 3600 is way too high, and will affect the drivablility.

On the other hand, other people say don't get anything under a 3500 stall, or it would be pointless in getting one. Any input from you guys?

Considering it's a dd, and will never see track time and always have street tires on it, if I put a good tranny cooler on it, do you think the stock transmission will do fine? What about the stock rear end for that matter?

As long as your trans is in good condition and you have a big transcooler and it is tuned right you should be fine.

look at my parts list in my sig. i have driven the car from FL to VA 11 hours straight. got 23mpg. If i had to do over again, i would get a tighter stall maybe a 4000. but its a beast none the less!!!!!

I have a yank SS4000 in my mild H/C 346. It kicks *** at the track and it's no problem on the highway -with the CC locked, but it's not so good for farting around town.

My guess is you'd be happy with a SS3200 or comparable. (Which, *I think* will work fine with that cam.)

I have a 3600 stall and 3.73 gears, daily drive it all the time.

I had a 2800 stall and it was nice, but the 3600 is way better.

I am on a 3200 stall Vig. I have read it will be perfect for something around and in between 228-234 cam.

Slash,

I DD a vig 3200, 230 cam, stage 2 60E, all bolt ons and longtubes, 3.73 gears and my car drives too much like stock seriously. i would honestly step up to a 3800 stall. you will be amazed how much a 3200 drives like stock. i might be stepping up to a 4k stall.
