Default Help with TH-350 on a Mazda RX-7

To make a long story short... i have a 93' RX-7 with a 3 speed th350 tranny conversion. Drove AMAZING!!!! for awhile, transbrake iand ratchet shifting s def a new experience... recently the car began to shake like crazy. AFter taking it to KDR i found out the bell housing is cracked damaged fairly bad. Basically Im planning on buying a new tranny that should bolt up to the same adapter plate thats on there right now. I was told its a B.O.P. (Buick, olds. pontiac) th350.

I'm posting on this site because there seems to be a much greater knowledge of these trannys around here.

Questions:

- I want another gear for the highway, is a TH 200-4r A direct swap for a th-350?

- Do you recommend solid mounting the trans on the body? or should you use some kind of bushing?

- Does anyone have a built up Th 200-4r for sale for a decent price?
I've seen them on the internet for ~$1700 but I'm a current student and hope I can find one with at least a stronger casing for under $1000.

I want to get my car back ASAP!! so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

bump someone please help!

Can I make the th200-4r work inplace of the th350???

I have a custom torque converter to work with the th350 from edge racing.. could I use the same if I decide to put a 200-4r in?

Thanks for the response... few more questions for anyone who is willing to answer

Is the th2004r onlyi a direct replacement for short-tailed th350's?

Would it be beneficial to put some kind of support brace from the trans to the engine? or would that cause the casing to break easier?

Could I use the same flexplate I have on the th350 now?

Any other tips/suggestions on completing this 350 to 2004r swap in my mazda would be great. Dont want to run into any unforeseen problems.

I've done the 200-4R's in the RX-7's.

You can use your same driveshaft assuming you have a short tail TH350.
You will have to move the mount back about 6" for the 200-4R from your current location.
I would hammer the floorpan around the servo area for clearance.
Most 200-4Rs have a universal pattern so no adapter is needed. They do have a fairly robust bellhousing. Thicker than a TH350.

You will have to setup a TV cable.
As stated the converters are different.

The 200-4R is a great trans for the RX-7. Fits well, gives a good gear spread, and has a good OD ratio.

Ok one more noob question for you guys.. The current Th350 I have in my car has no clutch and a b&m proratchet so I have to pull back on the ratchet to shift. Do I need a full reverse manuel valve body for the th2004r I'm going to put it.

Basically I pull back the ratchet to shift, does that mean I currently have a full reverse manuel valve body or an automatic?

can someone answer my noob question? If I want to keep my current pull down ratchet shifting without a clutch to push in.. what kind of valve body do I need on the 2004r?
