Default Auto Trans Mount

Does anyone have a part number for an auto trans mount? Apparently none of the parts stores carry a mount for our cars???

I wanted to stick with a stockish trans mount as oppose to a poly since my motor mounts are still stock, and I have heard bad things about using a poly trans mount with stock motor mounts, issues with the bell housing cracking.

Anyone have advice???

^^^it may or may not. What it does do is put undue stress on the tailshaft of the trans. Dont tell people it will be fine. Are you gonna buy him a new tailshaft if his cracks?

OP, I believe the LT1 trans mounts will work. Im not 100% sure about that though. Take an old mount in and verify this before you purchase.

i'm thinking he will be ok. are you saying the extra vibration will put more stress on the tailshaft HOUSING? i think if he can get the car to launch hard, that the poly mount would be the last thing that i would blame a cracked tailshaft housing on.

I had heard of issues with the bell housing cracking since the motor is still on softer mounts than the trans would be with a poly trans mount, forcing the bell housing to constrain the motor's movement.

My biggest issue is the nearly $100 the sealership wants to charge me for the new OEM trans mount.

Like it has been suggested by 01ssreda4 does anyone know for sure if a trans mount from a earlier/different model that uses the 4L60E trans would work?

LT1 mounts are like $8. Might be worth a shot. The trans is the same in LT/LS cars (basically anyway)
