Default What converter for big block TH400 Chevelle?

A friend just bought a 69 Chevelle with a built 468 & a big cam (.690 lift). It came with a 4500 stall in a TH400 but the the seller recommended he get something around 3500 stall if he was gonna drive it on the street a lot. So he's thinking about getting a Dayco 3500 for $300 ish. What do you think, is that a good converter or should he spend a lil more & get something else?

I ran that set up with a 406, 357, 438, and 468. It was a damn good converter, it felt like it was custom built for each of those engines even though it was off the shelf.

I know TCI has a bad reputation for their lock up converters, but IMO any lock up converter has to be built better. Their non lock up stuff is pretty good.
So how much is a TCI unit?

I bought mine back in 1997 and it was just over 300 for the same part number.
I've owned three of these, with good luck. One was in a 3/4 ton GMC truck.
