Default Question about trans temp sender unit and fluids

just got 2 questions, instead of drilling a hole and welding a bung for the sender unit, can the drain bolt be removed and replaced with the sender unit? my only fear is that my car is pretty low and could get destroyed.

also, i just got my tranny back from being rebuilt, it is completely bone dry. how many quarts would it take to fill it up? i know its 5 quarts for the pan, but what about everything else.

Performabuilt told me it would take +/- 9 quarts with a smaller aftermarket stall converter.....personally I wouldn't want a sensor with a wire hanging out of the bottom of my transmission

Ive been thinking about adding a t-fitting off the output lines from the tranny to the cooler and modify the fitting, if needed, to put the sender in. Plus should be more accurate than where the fluid is cooler from the air hitting it at the bottom of the pan. If you do put one in the pan, weld your bung on the side somewhere. not on the bottom. If you have a stock pan it shouldnt have a drain plug anyways.
