Default 2.73 Gears and 3600 Stall

I'm looking to get a 3600 stall. How much impact would changing 2.73 gears to 3.73 gears have after the stall?

I realize some stalls are built on gear ratio, but just wanted to know in general.

Thanks!

from my understanding the 2.73s will make the stall very loose, the 3.73s will make it nice and tight

The first thing I did to my car was change out the 273's to 373's and it made a huge difference. From what I have been told, I would spin tires more with the 373 gears, but I think that I actually spin less. My next step is a Circle D pro series converter.

Also to mention IF you have not, you can have the TQ management reduced/removed and that will make another dramatic difference as well.

3:42's are the best all around gear for a A4.

How do you remove the TQ management? Is it done through computer tuning or going inside the transmission?

Going from 2.73s to 3.73s will make a bigger difference with a stock converter than with a higher stalling converter. You might knock off a half second or more if you have a stock converter. However, if you already have a 3500 stall, for instance, your gain by changing gears may be only 2 tenths.

You'd be amazed what you can do with 2.73s and a 3500+ stall converter.

The nice thing about the 3.73s is how much it'll "tighten" up the part throttle feel of a loose converter.

The 3.23 gears with TCI 3500 stall I have are a great street/strip combo, IMO.

Yes, it's in the programming.

Ok, I will ask the guy doing my tuning to remove it when he tunes out the EGR and AIR codes.

I would change gears and the converter and you will see some tremendous gains. if I were going to keep a 273 gear then I would configure the converter for that . the converter needs to be configured for the entire combination.

a set stall is based on engine, weight, cam, rear, etc-change anything, stall changes
