Default John Deere Trans Fluid?

Someone school me on this. I heard that it would tighten up my converter a little bit, but that seems far fetched. Any benefits? I have a stock 4L60E with a Yank SS4000 and it's now revving to nearly 6400 before it shifts. Used to shift before 6200 with the previous Yank 3100.

stay far away from it there is a reason gm and ford and others so on use certain fluids its because there clutches and bands and so on are tested and run in those fluids changing it probably would cause them to slip or worse

What's the thin Hy-Gard? I found this: http://www.deere.com/en_US/parts/par...hydraulic.html

Is it different than that? I want to run it in my TH400.

TY22035 is the 1qt part number, TY6342 is for a 5 gal. pail. Should be able to pick up the pail for less than 60 bucks locally.

I don't think it is going to make a noticable difference in converter tightness/looseness but it is definitely good stuff. I have it in all 3 of my vehicles (including my 2005 Vette with a bone stock 4l65e. It works great for me. Just dont tell the guy at the John Deere dealer you are putting it in a automobile-they almost wouldnt sell it to me the last time, they had to make sure I knew it was tractor fluid lol.

Just put some Hygard Lite in my manual valve body 4l80e.

Reading the first couple responses scared me until I read L eater's response. Anyone with a work truck as fast as his with a 4l80e in it and the same transbrake I have that is still running strong is good enough proof for me to run it.

Jake likes it, as well as me. Only downfall is it STINKS when you burn a trans up.

I have a stalled stock 4l60e and was interested in this as a way to possibly shore up the trans against a problem I run into on the highway where the clutches slip in overdrive. Any comments? It's got 200k miles and the alternative is simply a rebuild so I figure it couldn't hurt...

Most likely culprit I'd think is a worn seal, probably leaking some hydraulic pressure somewhere.

Seems like a beefier fluid might help.

Well after running the hygard I am impressed. Pre hygard lite with dexron III tranny temps would be 180-185 arriving at track(6 miles from home). Were 145-150 Saturday. Where pre-hygard lite temps were 220-230 approaching ticket booth and 240-250 shutting off in pits, they were 190-200 approaching booth and 220-225 shutting off. Still not as good as the Amsoil Super Shift I ran at first which had me at 170-180 aproaching the booth and 210 shutting off no lie, but at 11 bucks a qt. it gets expensive fast. Hygard was 17 bucks a gallon and 4.99 each for 3 more quarts, less than half the price of the amsoil.

I'm going to drop the pan one more time in the next week or two to get all the rest of the old fluid out, but since I left the pan off overnight before putting the hygard in, and my tranny cooler is right next to my transmission(under the floorboard) and the lines are only about 2 1/2 feet long total I don't think there was but about 2-3 quarts at the most left in there. It took 7 to get it back to full.

I also used to stall to 3900 on the transbrake launching off the stall(not two step) at 9-10psi racing the tree. I was able to set my 2 step at 4100rpm after the hygard lite and footbrake to 3700-3800rpm at 8psi. I think I am in love

I think any fluid stinks when you burn a tranny up. Some maybe more than others. That dexron **** STUNK after just one trip to the track making 2 passes tranny temps never got over 230, and after one night in the garage the whole kitchen/dining room smelled like tranny fluid. The Amsoil I ran never smelled at all and so far neither does the Hygard Lite.

So did it tighten the TC or no?
