You will need an automatic flexplate and a you can get a torque converter for the TH400 that will bolt directly to the stock LS1 flexplate. What are you putting the transmission in? That will help figure out what you will have to do to make the speedo work.

Go with a TCI flexplate and it will allow you to use a convential TH400 converter also so you have more options on who to buy the stall from.

my ls1 has a m6 flywheel on it, and in the garage sits my th400 with a normal converter. theres a place that sells and adapter kit that is just bolts and spacer and they say its all you need.. is this true? and its goin in a 67 chevy c10 but i was wanting to take the gauge cluster from my camaro to save me money on gauges.. so it would be all like factory but in the c10 but with a th400 instead of a m6 so thats what i was wondering what to do about the speedo

Yea to adapt an LS1 that had an LS1 compatable automatic transmission to a non LS1 compatable GM transmission.
You cannot use a manual transmission flywheel with an automatic transmission. No one makes an adapter for that.

You need a flexplate and crank spacer.

Use a TCI flexplate. It is stronger and stock ones are prone to crack.

no, if you have an auto flex plate, that will work. The flexplate is your flywheel. You will need a converter to go from an LS1 flexplate to a TH400. FTI, yank, etc can make one for you.

To adapt an old th400 with it's old style converter to an LS1 you need a flexplate and crank spacer.

What to do about the speedo, get a reluctor wheel and vss that fits the th400. These are factory parts.
