th400 question
first question is, can i keep my flywheel (m6) and just buy the adapter kit that comes with longer bolts and a few things or do i need to change flywheels and all that.. the other thing is how do i get the speedometer to read right? thanks for any help

my ls1 has a m6 flywheel on it, and in the garage sits my th400 with a normal converter. theres a place that sells and adapter kit that is just bolts and spacer and they say its all you need.. is this true? and its goin in a 67 chevy c10 but i was wanting to take the gauge cluster from my camaro to save me money on gauges.. so it would be all like factory but in the c10 but with a th400 instead of a m6 so thats what i was wondering what to do about the speedo

You cannot use a manual transmission flywheel with an automatic transmission. No one makes an adapter for that.
You need a flexplate and crank spacer.

no, if you have an auto flex plate, that will work. The flexplate is your flywheel. You will need a converter to go from an LS1 flexplate to a TH400. FTI, yank, etc can make one for you.

so i have to get a converter made? i cant use a normal converter, then the adapter plate with the longer bolts and spacer? because i already have a converter and im on a tight budget

To adapt an old th400 with it's old style converter to an LS1 you need a flexplate and crank spacer.
What to do about the speedo, get a reluctor wheel and vss that fits the th400. These are factory parts.
