Default 4L80e ?'s

I picked up my lq4 and 4l80e (I assume its a 4l80e with p/n 24208421). I'm going carb'd route with the engine, what I need to know do I have to have a computer of some kind to run this tranny or can I do a manual valve body? I'm new to all this so all the help would be appreciated. Oh yeah its going in a 71 camaro.

Transgo has an OK manual valvebody setup. Jake's Performance has a better one (shifts faster/more reliably).

As long as you can have a TPS on your setup I can not see why it could not be done with a stand alone controller. Personally I would rather have auto shifts over manual ones if you can swing it. To me it just makes sense. This way you can dial in exactly when you want your combo to shift or the TCC function to work nice for you. I believe that I read a post where Jake's Performance is a distributor for one of these systems. Might want to contact Jake to confirm this. Good luck with the project. Vince

Thanks. The more I read the more I'm leaning towards buying the stand alone controller, just so I wont be shifting all the time. If I was doing that i'd just throw a 6 speed behind it! Maybe jake will chime in here and fill me in.

I am a dealer for the Baumann OptiShift controller.
We have very good pricing on the controller, PM or email me if interested.
You will also need to add the TPS as Vince stated.
