Default pulling 4l60e

So I have a few questions. I have LT headers and ORY and my ory is welded to my headers, I looked under the car the other day and it looks like there is just enuf rooms for the tranny to squeze out, but idk if I can get to all the bolts with the exhaust in the way. Any other tips while takin it out wuld be a good help. Thanks

You should be able to pull it without undoing the Y pipe from the headers. It will be a little tight but it can be done for sure. The bolts shouldn't be blocked by much, just make sure you have a very long extension and a swivel for the bolts at the top of the bellhousing.

Thanks, lol I just came in from the freezing garage because I couldn't resist putting it on the jack stands and checking it out. It does look like it will be close, but im sure it won't be to tuff. Thank god I will be doing it on a lift. Hats off to those who have pulled it using jack stands lol, cuz there is no way I wuld be doing it if I had to lay on the ground the whole time. How it sits now I know there is no way I could get those top bolts out or top bolt? I know when the tranny mount/crossmember are off there and the *** end lowers down it will be doable.

Yes if you remove the tranny mount and let the tranny/engine sag down then you can get to the top bolt or should be able too. Thats what I have always done.

The one at the top wasn't the worst imo. It was the top bolt closer to the drivers side, always makes me curse. Maybe its because I dont have a lift lol.. As long as the engine/trans can sag to give you some clearance the y-pipe shouldn't be a problem but I have always removed it.

There are eight bolts holding the bellhousing to the engine. The transmission isn't going to move enough with the exhaust installed. The exhaust will hold the trans up and you'll never get that top bolt.

I guess I will have to try it and if it wont come down than I will have to cut it. Where would be the best spot to cut the ory. I don't wanna cut close to the headers cuz that makes me nervous lol

I'd cut it nice and square and use butt type (not overlapping) band clamps to put it back together.
I have three of these on my Y and can drop the whole thing out.

I've had enough LS1 transmissions out to know

How many bolt holes do you see?

^^^ I would have to agree with the above pic.
even though the pics I put up were of the trannys, one of the holes could be for a different application. threaded holes in the block are indisputable.
