I just run the non-syn and have never had any issues. Change it often with a stall. I change mine once a year. Last year that equaled 1400 miles.

What ? I should have read the directions, I put a quart or two of Mobil 1 syn in my new Yank and put it in. Changed the filter, cleaned the pan and filled it with Mobil 1 syn. Amazing, after 6 years and 30k + miles it still works like a champ, even after all those WOT lockups.

I believe this recommendation is for the lock-up clutch unit inside.
