Default torque convertors

with an aftermarket torque converter, say flashed at 3600, do you powerbrake to 3600 and then let go?

its supossed to not spin the tires at take off, right?

If you spin the tires on take off it's a good thing but you need to improve traction to make use of the extra power trying to be put to the ground.

im asking if it stops your wheels from spinning if you launch at 3600 or do u need tires as well

what about if your driving at 40 and punch it..........any change?

If you go to a good converter with a 3600 stall speed, regular street tires will be useless at launch and most likely at 40mph too. Even with minor bolt ons.

I'm not sure about all converters. But, with mine, I can't hold the brake and try to stall it all the way up to where it flashes. At about 3000 or so, it starts trying to move the car.

a converter will usually not stall as high as advertised. lots of factors determine stall speed. traction, power, weight of car, gearing etc. flash speed is another thing, flash speed is the rpm the car will rev to when you quickly punch the throttle. flash speed is usually a more accurate way of naming a converter and is what will help the car launch harder on the street. [when your not always taking it to max stall speed]

power braking you apply the brake and bring the rpms up slowly, like a burn out with out a line lock.good for destroying U-joints.flashing you just mash the gas as fast as possible, removing you foot from the brake at the same time.if you drag race with out a trans brake you will under stand.

For foot breaking I have alway put slight pressure on the throttle. Then mash on the 3rd yellow. Let the converter do the work.
