Never ran one of their transmissions, but Jim is a good dude. He's helped me out quite a few times... and has completely built my buddies car. There arent many people id trust my car with, but Jim is one of em.

Cal Speed's customer service is amazing!

Good luck!

I think those ratings should have weight included. Big factor there

I don't know that I follow what you're saying. What do you mean should have weight included?

The issue is they are ratings and the weight of the vehicle will change the so called ratings. Persoanlly I do not believe in advertised ratings because I have seen guys destroy a trans with 1/2 of what has been advertised. Just saying. Vince

Ive had 2 different cars with their transmissions in them. Never broke anything or had a problem even spraying 200 out of the hole. both were full weight f-bodys.

I know putting our opinion in a thread looking for other peoples opinions doesn't give you outside feedback, BUT:

We've built 100's of street/strip & race 4l60e transmissions over the last several years for our in house customer builds.

I have 100% confidence in our Stage 4 transmission in a fbody application at the rated HP. We have numerous 10/11 sec etc customers vehicles with years of abuse with no problems (for truck heavier 4000+ lb applications, id recommend going to our extreme transmission).

BUT we really don't do mail order transmission builds like you see from FLT / RPM and other very good transmission builders. Mainly because we really prefer to do all transmission builds on vehicles we install the transmission in or is local to us to ensure everything is done properly and transmission build choice is based on our 1st hand opinion of what each vehicle needs to support its modifications...

So if you are not local to us, I will actually recommend you use a company like FLT / RPM that specialize in mail order transmissions. We build comparible quality but we really want to keep them based to our local customers that we could fully service and take care of they ever ran into a problem in anyway and can ensure they choose a transmission with proper upgrades to support their needs..
