If the trans is running at the same temp as the radiator. It makes sense that the trans is getting extra heat from it. Not the other way around!

That was always my thought process! Not only that it's just easier having 2 lines instead of 4 to have to worry about leaking

Under normal driving conditions your trans will run cooler than your engine.

Roger that. I guess i will find out soon when i do the gauge install. Here's a question, which way is a more accurate reading for the gauge, going into the pan or the pressure port?

The correct temp you are looking for will be aquired from the pan.

I have a b&m 70266 cooler in front of my radiator with the AC condenser removed. I'm using braided steel lines from transmission to cooler. I have a digital temp gauge with the sending unit in the pan.

Today is 80 degrees here in Minnesota and I just got done pounding on my car a bit and the highest my temps got were 160 degrees when I came to a stop at a light.

I also have a yank ss3600 and lockup is set to lockup in 4th above 40mph only

We also had one post where the trans cooler inside the OP's nearly 20-year old radiator sprung a leak, resulting in instant transmission failure.

The internal temp sensor is quite accurate; various multi-function gauges can display it through the OBD port.
