So What is the Bottom Line on GMT900 Trans Cooling?
This is my first post and hope to get an answer, lots of great info here about trans coolers, but can't find specific to the GMT900 with stock Aux cooler.
I have 08 model with 4l60E with stock Aux cooler (small cooler in front of radiator), temp climbs easily 200+, not towing or hauling anything just city driving, stop and go, outside climate get's real hot in the summer (90/100F plus) and that's when it's gets real bad.
I want my transmission temp to read 190 or less with minimum modification.
Things I read:
-Adding a 2nd cooler, but there is a risk of line pressures causing problems/restrictions....etc
-Added another cooler but nothing changed? some say!
-Bypass the radiator?? and utilize only the aux cooler??? not clear
-Replace stock Aux with a bigger cooler with bypass
-Tune TCM using custom tunes
-transgo shift kit/Corvett Servo helps lower temp? (read this somewhere)??
Confused!

just get a bigger cooler and replace the stock one , a 30,000 GVW cooler should suit you very nice.
i have put 4l80e in my truck and it is behind a forged turbo 6.2
i have the radiator bypassed and its going to a 30,000 gvw cooler, my temps are around 130-145 (150 in traffic)

what did you have before the 80e?
I am already planning the upgrade of my 4l60e...I will do it next time it needs a major repair, some say the a tune+ corvett servo+... can take up to 400+ hp
