Power glide with turbo 6.0?
Wanting to know if any one has ran a power glide in a turbo f body? Car should weigh around 3500. The power glide I have does have a brake, just don't know how well the 1.74 low gear is gonna work in a 3500 # car
Thanks

Disagree... it depends on how much power you want to make I think. If you want to make 500rwhp, I would do a 3 speed.
If you want to make 700+ rwhp, a powerglide is the way to roll. Easier to control the power. With a 3 speed, you launch the car and instantly have to shift. A 3 speed might be a tenth quicker at the track but only assuming you have 100% traction. I have also heard that the long first gear loads the turbo harder resulting in quicker acceleration. True? A glide is much more fun on the street too. 0-80 in low gear and 80-160 in high gear. Getting the converter right is the most important part. Do not cheap out on the converter. Goodluck!

Vortech? I thought it was Vortex converters. I still have my car, I'm just switching to a turbo 4.2 inline 6 w/ 4L60E. Haha always ******* on my Vigilante/Joels combo.. ill be ringing you for the $175 special!!! I probably would have had my turd in the 7's with your 3 speed. The world may never know.
John, if you already got a good deal on the trans, try it. I would switch to a 30 spline input shaft before buying a converter. That way you can switch to a 3 speed if you don't like the 2 spd and the converter will fit both.15 psi on a head/cam 370 with twin 70's and some spray will make a ton of power. You will love the glide. The cam and power peaks will dictate stall speed but something around 4500 rpm will get you moving in a hurry.
