I've been told the stock shifter works, but I had a T56, so I bought a ratchet shifter. The 4L80E uses slightly different brackets for the pan/lever. I used a quicksilver.B&M now makes the pan/lever kit for 4L80Es.

Got a link to the pan/lever kit? I had to modify some stuff to get mine to work and it was a PITA to adjust (working alone).

Bro, you'll probably gain a full second in ET with a good stall and an A4

Doing the drive train first is a good way to go. You'll have a trani and rear that should do fine on the brake and with a tire. Don't forget the drive shaft and a good trani cooler! And don't forget to ask Jake what he thinks about using the brake with that converter. Don't want any breakage along the way.

B&M Pro Ratchet shifter here for my TH350. I love the shifter. Very simple to use and looks decent. I gutted/cut the stock shifter cover so it fits nice and snug. Doesn't look terrible IMO:
