Default 130,000 miles too much for a converter & shift kit

i have 130,000 miles on my 2000 z28. is that too many to upgrade the converter and put a shift kit in? its about 1,000 to rebuild and more for a new trans. dont want to go that route until it breaks.
any suggestions

The converter wont hurt it, but all the beating you do on it after the install might wear it out.

Its gonna create more heat but with a good cooler you should be ok for a while unless your trans is hurt to begin with.
