I have a 1998 4l60e from a k1500 chevy truck(vortech 350) and i built an iron 6.0 i want to mate to it and i see the pre ls 4l60e has a different input shaft and i was wondering if i can buy the newer 300mm shaft and swap it. and if so do i need any other parts?

Why not just get a dished 5.3L flexplate and spacer for the crank and elongate the holes of the flexplate to fit the Earlier 4l60 torque convert bolts. Or you could use the stock 6.0L flat flex plate and so the same won't need the spacer.

If you plan on swapping the input shafts you will need to change the pump stator and also the bell. Vince

My bad I was not thinking. The cases in your truck did not change until 99! What I would do in your case is leave what you have in the trans alone. Install the unit as if you were installing a th350 or th400. This will require a custom converter or a crank pilot spacer. HTH Vince

I agree with Vince. You can use the LT style 298mm converter. You can mod the flex-plate bolt holes for the smaller bolt pattern. Also need to make sure the pilot of the converter is engaging in the crank. You will need an adapter if you are using the dished flex-plate. If you are using the flat style with the spacer, you should be fine.
