Default 700r4 troubles

Hello all, 2 days ago I was driving around my jeep it has a 6.2td and a 4x4 700r4. It was driving fine before that day. Then it started to bounce in n out of 4th gear on the freeway. And when I got home the tv cable was disconnected and not adjusted so I connected it and adjusted it and now it has trouble shifting into 2nd and does not want to shift into 4th. And this morning I changed out the fluid and filter and no change. Did it burn up or is there more trouble shooting I can do?

You could try adjusting the t/v cable in, it sounds like its too tight. Maybe 1/8" at a time.

Well it seam to work I loosed it bit by bit now it shifts soft and good. BUT when I check the fluid there's a lot of black in it like clutch material. Hopefully it still lasts a while.

The band burns up first when there is a problem with the tv. The tv controls pressure for the tranny. The band in ur 700 is burnt. The band is applied in 2nd and 4th. I am 99% sure this is ur problem!

Yea the trans is shot today I was driving around for 80miles or so and when I was coming home it was in overdrive and it began to slip like if it were losing fluid. And when I stopped with the engine on to check the fluid and it was perfect when I get back on the highway it shifts 2and 3 good and all of a sudden no od what so ever! And another question my trans guy has the lock up set up to where it used just one wire in the plug is that ok or is can there be a problem there?

Yes that's called a 4th gear switch. That's the best way to make lock up! When the trans goes into 4th it should go right into lock up.
