Finished trans swap!
I just finished up a trans swap on my 01 T/A and only ran into a few issues.
Main problem was finding a cheap trans lift. The local HF was sold out of
the cheap ones so I made my own out of their low profile 2 ton jack and
some 2x6's. I'll try to post a pic. The main other problem was getting the
F'n dipstick tube bolt back in. After trying several tactics and spending more
time than I care to admit I ground about 1/3rd of the bolt threads down to
clear the tapped threads and chamfered the bolt were the threads began.
This helped to locate and square the bolt similar to a dowel. It worked very
well, within 2 min with the aid of a gear wrench I was finished with what I
consider the most frustrating part of the swap. If you choose to do this be
very careful threading the bolt you could easily crossthread the hole.
I thought I'd share a couple ideas I came up with to possibly help some one.
I'll try to post a couple pics of the jack.
