93 tv cable adjustment????

93 tv cable adjustment???? when i try to adjust it it goes to the max every time. is that where it was stock or am i doing it wrong.
Engine off, I push in tab.
Move cable towards firewall
then move cable bracket to WOT.

That puts you in the ballpark on the tight side. If it doesn't want to shift move it in 1/8" and try it, need more try another 1/8" ect. On early shifts you would move it out. I found that marking the cable was helpful.
