2000 Z28 engine and transmission, 4L60e, 2.73 rear gear:
Lot of miles, no transmission servicing lately, fluid looks good.

From a stop, not heavy acceleration: engine accelerates to 4000 RPM before shifting, and drops to 2000 RPM, so I think that it is third gear.

How bad it this?

Is there any way you can get it on a scanner and see what gear the ECM is commanding and what gear it is currently in?

Scanner said it shifted to second, then to third.

Sounds like there is and issue with the 2-4 band possibly tangs broken off which is common with the stock band particulary if you have a shift kit or have upped the presure in tuning, Plus thats alot of miles.
